ROLE interface design, research

An Interactive art piece part of the Pomona College Neuroscience Project thesis "An interactive design curriculum: Learning by optimizing limited working memory capacity"

The Load is an interactive art piece that aims to capture the relationship between the intake of novel information and the finite cognitive capacity in our working memory. This project is modeled after the cognitive load theory (CLT), an instructional theory suggested by John Sweller. Greater pressure on the pressure-sensor platform flashes LED lights of all five colors. Each activated light and in sum, indicates greater load on the brain, causing cognitive overload and stress from inefficient learning. The Load is part of a greater neuroscience project thesis. Full research manuscript can be shared upon request.
